The set up is pretty simple once you have Google Analytics installed as we did in the previous tutorial.

  1. First open https://search.google.com/search-console/welcome Enter your 'site URL' and click 'continue'.

  2. When setting up you need to verify you own the website. It will be automatically verified if you have the Google Analytics account. Now, Click 'GO TO PROPERTY'.

  3. Then, You will be redirected to the 'Overview' page. Click 'START'.

  4. Now that you are all set up we just need to make sure Google knows about your website (in SEO jargon we need to know if it is "indexed"). In Google search "site:yourdomainname.com".

  5. See if your pages are listed or not. Currently our pages are not listed. So we need to move forward to add it.

This checking step is known as "checking if the website is indexed". The Google Index is all the websites that Google will consider including in its search results. The Bing Index is the same but for Bing search results.
