Your URLs should be user friendly and contain the keywords of the page. So if you have a site selling kitchen appliances, for example, instead of calling a page products.htm you might call it kitchen-appliances.htm.
An even better option would be to have different pages for different appliances with one page called kitchen-hobs.htm and another called kitchen-extractor-fans.htm.
If your site is written in php then dynamic links should be avoided. In other words if your page is kitchen-appliances.php?product=hobs&type=gas it should be rewritten to something like kitchen-gas-hobs.php
This can be achieved through using modrewrite rules in your .htaccess file.
